Our health is personal… extremely personal. And our belief in God’s love for us is even more personal. I understand that in this blog I am touching on two of, in my opinion, the most personal things we deal with in our lives on a daily basis. So please know, this blog is covered in prayer as well as hopeful expectancy that the Lord will reveal to you a new way to view your everyday relationship with overall wellness.
To start, I have to clarify that God’s love for us in unconditional. No matter our past, He loves us like crazy and He has an incredible plan for our lives based on His grace and not our actions. God paid the price of the blood of Jesus, His only begotten Son, on the cross, so we could know Him eternally; and so we could not be enslaved by the lusts of these bodies we live in during our stay on this earth. Once we believe in our heart, and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, then we are made new and adopted into His royal family, and everything changes inside of us.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV
But the heart of my work, and I believe my one of my greatest assignments from the Lord is to help Christians realize that after the moment of salvation a new battle begins. A battle of transforming our minds to the way God thinks and not the way our brains functioned before we knew Jesus as Lord.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Godʼs will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2 NIV
That process, is one that takes a commitment of every second of every day, the rest of our lives.
I believe all of us know deep in our hearts that nothing satisfies or soul more than the presence of the Lord Jesus. But there is a war for us to rest in His love. There is a war for us to find peace, love, joy, comfort, and even self-control in our own strength, in our own ability, and not in complete dependence on the Lord’s ability.
The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
Galatians 5:17 NLT
So I write this to expose some areas and to bring some struggles in all of our lives into the light of the presence of the Lord. I pray this challenges each of us to grow to a more intimate level with the Lord.
I want you to ask yourself, right where you are, do you believe that God cares about your body? Do you believe He cares about something as small as your success with living in a healthy body? I want you to think on these questions for just a minute before you continue reading.
One of my favorite things about living as a child of the King of kings is that He is not too busy to help each one of us with every detail of our lives.
If the answer is no, I have incredible news. God longs to help you in every area of your life, including the stewardship of your body because you are a loved, cherished child if you have been saved by faith in Jesus. There is not one area where God is not excited and more than willing to help you.
If the answer is yes, are you proud of the way you’re stewarding your body? Are you maximizing the productivity of your body by fueling it properly on a consistent basis?
One of my favorite things about living as a child of the King of kings is that He is not too busy to help each one of us with every detail of our lives.
The unfortunate truth we face in our lives, is that often times we fail to truly believe that on a daily basis. And I believe some people reading this have never truly believed that at all. Maybe you’re reading this and you absolutely believe that God is real, and that He loves everyone in this world, but when it comes to you… well… you have a hard time receiving that love. I pray today that changes today.
I want to encourage you, no matter where you are, to surrender your health, 100% of it to the Lord. Ask Him to help you honor Him with every meal, every snack every workout, and every second of the rest of your life. There is nothing better than living to please Him in every area… we know that in our hearts, but let’s start to put that into practice every day from here on out.
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
I Corinthians 10:31 NKJV
And if you’re reading this and you have never surrendered your life to Jesus, I want to encourage you to not let another second pass. Pray to Him, confess with your mouth that you need Him as your Savior, and believe in your heart that He died and rose from the grave to save you from sin and death. This is the best decision you will ever make. If you prayed that prayer, we would love to hear from you. Send us an email at [email protected] We want to make sure you’re equipped to now become a disciple of Jesus.
It is one of my greatest joys to be able to share with each of you, and encourage you to look to Jesus for strength in every area of your life. I believe our health is something we can reflect on and see areas where we struggle with living fully surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus in every area. I believe if our focus is on how radical and unconditional God loves us, we would be excited to treat our bodies incredible every day, and not, at times, self-destruct with food.
I pray you join me in committing to 100% surrender to the Lord daily, even with our health. And please share this blog if it encouraged you to help spread the word! Thank you!
God Bless,
Cody Bobay
