What if the Church took action against pornography like the world has taken action against COVID?
COVID is controversial for sure, the origin, the effects, the preventive measures, but we all still talk about it. Why? Most of us know people impacted by COVID and we all know it’s a problem (no matter our opinion of it) that needs a strategy to fight against it.
And hopefully, this post sparks a passion in your soul stronger than the passion you have for the conversation of COVID. Because the truth is, we all need to take the threat of pornography more seriously.
First off, we need to start and keep the conversation of the origin of sex open. Sex is NOT evil. Sex is an incredible gift from God to be celebrated between a man and woman who are in covenant before the Lord (marriage).
Aren’t you thankful that God didn’t decide to have kids come from a detailed excel spreadsheet with the formulas perfect? He created the birth of children to begin with an orgasm. God is so good!!
Sex is something to be celebrated, to be learned, and practiced (frequently) inside of a marriage covenant.
God honoring sex is more fulfilling and sweeter than anything this world can ever formulate in a pornography video.
And just like a virus attacks the human body, pornography is attacking the minds of the Church globally at an unprecedented rate. We have kids becoming addicted at 11 years old. Then, by the time they get married they are dealing with problems with sex that take years of counseling and honestly, years of hurt and pain in the sex life they are trying to honor God with. They feel shame with sex, lack of interest with sex that honors God because of what they have been addicted to for years. They feel confused, isolated and depressed. And more times than not, they give up on their marriage.
Christians, we have to stand up and show the world the cure to this. There is no vaccination for pornography, oh how I wish there was. The cure is loving God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and learning to love your neighbor as yourself.
We cannot stand on rooftops shouting how much we hate sex trafficking and the impact it’s having globally, then feed the source of the problem in private. The driver of human trafficking is the insatiable lust for sex that pornography puts in the human mind.
Hear me, I am not writing this as a man who is not tempted by this evil. I am writing as a man who has struggled with pornography, a man who knows the depth of the evil, and a man who has committed to fight against this sickness that is killing more marriages and future marriages faster than any virus this world has seen.
I will continue this conversation with my life and my work. I just hope this post sparked a passion in your soul to join me in this fight with more passion than this world is showing they have to fight against COVID. Again, to clarify, I am all for fighting COVID, it’s a problem. But it doesn’t even compare to the threat of pornography.
